BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent and some viewers were left squirming over the show's unusual guests in the studio on Wednesday. Joining Sally and Jon Kay on the famous red sofa was Ethan Spurrier and Annalise Sidwell from the Association of Protecting Exotic Species along with a python, a corn snake and a bearded dragon.

During the chat, the pair explained that many exotic pets were being given up due to the cost of looking after them. At one point, Annalise asked Sally if she wanted to hold one of the animals, to which she swiftly shut down.

Although he appeared to be the bravest of the hosts, Jon hesitantly questioned why the python was becoming more active during the chat seemingly a little worried. Insisting all was good, Annalise said he was being inquisitive.

As the chat unfolded, viewers flocked to the platform X to share their thoughts. One wrote: "Reptiles freak me out #BBCBreakfast," while a second commented: "Jesus wept, i think I'll stick to our persian cats #bbcbreakfast."

Another joked: "Reptiles on tv instead of Tory ministers this morning! Spot the difference? #BBCBreakfast." A fourth typed: "I kept a bearded dragon once...... cost a fortune in heating and feeding.... so I divorced her #bbcbreakfast."
