BBC's host Fiona Bruce has recalled the time one couple "stormed off" after hearing the value of their cherished item - and they ended up dumping it afterward. The Sunday night favourite has been on our screens since 1979 and over the years it's had its share of shock revelations and mishaps.

From expert guests nearly dropping precious vases to a comical instance where someone accidentally drank urine, Fiona, the 59-year-old host of the popular TV show, has seen her fair share of dramatic scenes. But one particular moment stuck out for her.

In an interview on ITV's Celebrity Catchphrase with Stephen Mulhern, Fiona recalled a time when a couple left the set in a huff after finding out the worth of their item. Stephen asked her: "We know you as a presenter, as very serious news reader. We know you from Antiques Roadshow as well, of course. Have you ever seen anybody really cheesed off when they bring their item in and they get told it's worth absolutely nothing?"

Fiona, with a chuckle, responded: "Everyone tells me they love that bit. And yes, I mean, many times. "Some people came along once, a couple and they had an enormous painting. They lugged it along and it took them ages. Eventually, the specialist saw it and said £30 maybe, and they were so cross."

Fiona added: "They dumped it against a hedge and stormed off."

In other news, the BBC gave an update in February about what's next for Antiques Roadshow.

The broadcaster revealed that filming for the much-loved show will start in just a few months.

The 47th series is on its way, where viewers can learn more about the valuable finds people have stumbled upon.

The team will begin their journey at Firstsite Art Gallery in Colchester, Essex, and end at Thirlestane Castle, hidden away in Lauder in the Scottish Borders.

Expert refuses to value item on Antiques Roadshow

Other stops include Beaumaris Castle on the island of Anglesey, the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, and Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery in Ealing, London.

The latest instalment of the BBC programme saw Ronnie Archer-Morgan refusing to value one item as he admitted it made him "sad".

The expert was presented with a disc of ivory and he immediately told the guest: "I want to make it absolutely clear that myself and we in the Antiques Roadshow wholly, unequivocally disapprove of the trade in ivory. But this ivory bangle here, it's not about trading in ivory, it's about trading in human life."

He later added: "I do not want to put a price on something that signifies such an awful business, but the value is in the lessons that this can tell people.

"The value is in researching this and what we can find out and I just love you for bringing it to the Roadshow and thank you so much for making me so sad."

Antiques Roadshow is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
