kicked the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards off with a bang - and viewers were left in stitches.

The Luther actor and some of the biggest names in Hollywood made their way to the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

There is no host for the annual event, which was broadcast live on Netflix rather than traditional cable, but Idris was one of a group of celebs who addressed the audience at the start.

The SAG Awards has a tradition of actors telling their stories, typically closing with their name and the signature line: "I am an actor."

One of those was Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, who returned back to her seat to find it was occupied by Elba.

"Sorry, it's a litlew bit embarrasing," she said in front of the whole auditorium. "That's my seat."

Standing up from the chair, apologetic Idris replied: "Oh sorry, what show is this again? Ted Lasso? Right."

Viewers were left giggling at the hilarious skit, and really couldn't stop laughing when Idris got up on the stage.

"Since we're on Netflix, what's the rule around swearing," he asked, pointing out that he didn't think they could go to "Succession level".

Idris told the audience: "Don't say anything you wouldn't say in front of Oprah."

The camera then panned down to the baffled-looking chat show legend, before the Hijacked actor cried: "F***! That was Oprah."

SAG Awards viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise Idris for his opening.
