Dermot O'Leary insists he's never seen this sex toy

This Morning viewers were left outraged and wanting to "throw up" after the show ran a segment on sex toys in advance of Valentine's Day. The rather racy clip featured Lizzie Cundy sitting on a bed in a leopard print robe and discussing her own experiences of testing the toys on show.

Hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond were described as "sex toy newbies" during the presentation and both looked uncomfortable presenting the subject matter. They were shown various toys for both men and women and how they worked was graphically described.

Alongside this Lizzie waxed lyrical about how much she had enjoyed using various ones. It was all too much for many viewers who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their vitriol.

@ann_freema44247 fumed: "Lizzy Cundy letting us know her experience with the sex toys? Makes me want to throw up!! Disgusting!#ThisMorning." @mason_becc15973 queried: "Am I a prude for thinking that particular segment was a bit much on a daytime show, particularly as I did think it was just done to spark the comments? ( which of course it has done) #ThisMorning"

StephenWorsley1 said: "Just sat down to my lunch, and you broadcast this filth ! What happened to the 9 0 clock watershed. #ThisMorning #ofcom." @realseanslater also found their meal interrupted by the degment writing: "Im trying to eat lunch with my family ffs #ThisMorning.

@LDN_MCMLXXXIV opined: "Don’t think this is appropriate for daytime television. #ThisMorning"

Meanwhile @Brid_PA made reference to the fact that the show had gone off air earlier in the daying sayijng: "@thismorning Perhaps it should have stayed off during your Valentine's sex toys section on the @thismorning programme today,, seriously this was not suitable viewing with preschoolers sitting watching TV? #thismorning."

Express.co.uk has contacted This Morning for comment.

The segment ran at the end of the show and was in danger of running out of time as Dermot had to point out there were only 45 seconds left.

This was likely because they had been pulled off air earlier in the show for several minutes due to a major technical issue. Dermot and Alison were reading the latest headlines alongside two guests before heading to an advert break. However, once the break was over a series of archived nature clips from the show started to play.

Along the bottom of the screen, a message read: "We are sorry for the disruption to your schedule. We will return to normal programming as soon as we can."

Three individual segments were shown before the programme returned back to the studio. Addressing the interruption,

Alison said: "Welcome back to This Morning. Now we do apologise, we've bene having a few gremlins in the system and we're sorting it, aren't we?". Dermot replied: "Absolutely, but we got three lovely films to watch while we at it."

This Morning is on ITV and ITVX weekdays at 10am.
