When asked whether he had ever met Elvis, Sir Cliff replied: "No I did not, I had one chance through a journalist when I was promoting Devil Woman in the States. He said, 'Oh, I know Elvis' because he knew I was influenced and he said, 'Do you want to meet him?'
Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford comments on Oprah Winfrey's weight
Loose Women viewers have blasted veteran broadcaster and panellist Gloria Huniford, calling for the ITV daytime show to be "binned" following what they feel are "fat-shaming" remarks about Oprah Winfrey. The Northern Irish star made the comments as the show marked the 70th birthday of the media mogul on Monday's show (January 29).
After showing a clip of Oprah appearing on the show, Gloria admitted she was a fan of the star. However, she followed it up with: “Oprah fluctuates a lot. Sometimes she’s very overweight and now she looks great. She’s very, very thin.”
Viewers were quick to pick up on the remarks and make their feelings known. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to blast the 83-year-old over her choice of words
A user with the handle @FlopsyPickle commented: “Gloria is essentially saying that women are only beautiful and accomplished if they’re ‘very, very thin’. Very telling that it’s her first thought when discussing Oprah. This show is toxic and should be binned #LooseWomen.”
@Dayjur11 chimed in: “'She looks fantastic. She’s very very thin'. Okaaaaay.” @AndyJamesMichel claimed it was Gloria who had weight issues, writing: "Gloria is AWFUL!! Why even make that comment!! #loosewomen."
Meanwhile, @TellyVsPodcasts compared her comments to recent remarks from Sir Cliff Richard which appeared to fat-shame Elvis Presley.
“Gloria being a little fatphobic like her beloved Cliff Richard #loosewomen,” they wrote.
Express.co.uk has contacted ITV and representatives for Gloria Hunniford for comment.
In November, Sir Cliff sparked uproar with remarks he made during an appearance on This Morning.

However, when asked about Elvis, Sir Cliff told the hosts he once refused to have a picture taken with the King of Rock and Roll because he was "overweight".
"And I said, 'Yeah', at the end of the interview though I said, 'Can we put it off?' He had put on a lot of weight and I thought, 'If I am having a photograph taken with him and it's going to be hanging on my refrigerator, he has got to look good'. So I put it off and then, of course, he died."
"You should never have put it off just because they're a little bit heavier," Alison chimed in. "If you're a fan of somebody's and you get the chance to meet them, meet them even if they have put on weight," Sir Cliff laughed.
