Prince William cries tears of laughter at Tom Allen's set

Prince William wiped away tears of laughter at a set by comedian Tom Allen. The future king let the stresses of 2023 fall away as he struggled to compose himself at the Royal Variety Performance which aired on TV tonight.

Mr Allen quipped about the obstacles of online shopping, leaving the heir to the throne clutching his stomach as the full on belly laughed. The comedian talked about the hoops website visitors need to jump through to prove that they’re not a robot.

As the Prince dabbed his watering eyes, his wife Princess Kate chuckled alongside him - their pair were both sitting in a box overlooking the stage. And William’s joy didn’t go unnoticed by royal fans who reacted on Twitter to his belly laughing.

They posted to X formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts on Prince William’s high spirited mood. One said: “Creased up watching Prince William belly laughing at Tom Allen…#royalvarietyperformance

Another said: “Ok so Prince William crying with laughter at Tom Allen on the Royal Variety has made my whole night.”

“Great to see Prince William letting his hair down, so to speak! Who was that performing on stage? A brilliant reaction,” said another.

Others pointed out that William was “dying” with laughter. Meanwhile other Royal Variety Performance viewers were left unimpressed after pointing out that King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla were absent from the ITV charity event hosted by Bradley Walsh.

Instead The Prince and Princess of Wales sat in the royal box to watch a night of performances from a host of stars. @VivereB asked on X: "And King Charles didn’t turn up … why?

“I’m not taking the ‘head of family hasn’t attended since 2012’, that was due to the Queen’s being 86….. he obviously just doesn’t want to attend….. at 75…." (sic).”

@philrandell51 #royalvarietyperformance echoed: "Where's the king isn't that the idea of it?" as @hereford1terra joked: "Home having his Horlicks."

@LadyRussellini commented: "No wonder King Charles sent William and Catherine...thought it might be slightly more entertaining with Bradley Walsh but no... what a pile of s*** #RoyalVarietyPerformance." (sic)

Princess Kate wowed fans who watched her attend the event that was filmed at the end of November. She donned a dazzling teal dress as she joined the Swedish royal family for this year's Royal Variety Performance.

Prince William wore smart evening wear as he escorted Kate who, according to royal style guru Carly Whitewood, wore a dress by Safiyaa.
