SM Entertainment has announced a London stop for the upcoming SMTOWN Live 2025 world tour, as well as announced Taeyeon and Wendy’s absences from the kick-off shows in Seoul.
After announcing the first three stops for the highly anticipated SMTOWN Live 2025 world tour in December 2024, the South Korean music label has revealed an additional stop in London, UK, scheduled for June 2025.
The tour is slated to kick off with a two-night residency at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome from January 11 to 12, 2025. SM Entertainment’s star-studded roster of artists will then play shows in Mexico City and Los Angeles in May, before heading to London in June and Tokyo in August. More stops are expected to be announced at a later stage.
Super Junior, EXO’s Suho and Chanyeol, NCT Dream, WayV, RIIZE and NCT Wish have been confirmed to be part of the tour. According to Mexico event organisers OCESA, the complete line-up will only be revealed in 2025.
SM Entertainment announced last month that Taeyeon would not be present at the SMTOWN Live concert in Seoul. The Girls’ Generation vocalist has since shared her initial desire to perform at the concerts, per The Korea Times: “I wanted to perform at this important event and had begun preparing two or three songs.”
She added that she had even “communicated my plans to the company and awaited their preparations, but to put it simply, they did not follow through, so I ended up not being able to perform. This is not because I lacked motivation or didn’t want to do it.”
The label also announced on January 6, 2025, that Red Velvet‘s Wendy would also be absent from the Seoul concerts, citing “personal reasons”. She has since personally expressed her frustration about the last-minute announcement, which came less than a week before the shows.
“The company and I had discussed this over a month ago, but the announcement was only made today,” she wrote, per The Korea Times. “I imagine many fans were looking forward to a five-member Red Velvet performance. I’m sorry. Since it’s the 30th anniversary, a variety of performances will be prepared. I hope you enjoy it. Tickets to SMTOWN Live in Mexico City and LA are now available for purchase at the OCESA website and AEG Presents’ official page, respectively. Ticketing and venue details for the remaining stops have yet to be announced; keep tabs on this page for the latest updates.
