Footage has emerged of a Disney-themed DJ concert displaying images of UnitedHealthcare CEO murderer Luigi Mangione during a set.
The Bop to the Top event – thought to be named after a track from High School Musical – was billed as a ‘Best Of Both Worlds’ dance night featuring iconic hits from the Disney Channel.
At one point during the event, held at Big Night Live in Boston on Friday (December 13), Hannah Montana’s (Miley Cyrus‘) ‘He Could Be the One rang out as images of Mangione, the 26-year-old suspect charged with Thompson s murder, flashed on screen.
Despite the subsequent social media outrage, fans attending the even cheered, which the DJ reportedly acknowledged by saying: “You gotta give the people what they want.” Others found it in poor taste at such an innocuous event, with one calling the stunt “degenerate” on X/Twitter.

It still blows my mind that the screaming adulation over Luigi Mangione happened at a Disney Channel throwback DJ show called Bop to the Top contrary to an Earl Sweatshirt concert or something https://t.co/rAcPhXWh7e pic.twitter.com/06Wz8KHzrE

It's going to be…interesting. Especially after Trump takes office. I'm not sure what the future will bring. Maybe positive change or unspeakable horror. Perhaps some combination of both.

Mangione has dominated headlines and developed somewhat of a cult following online from people who either engage seriously with his political beliefs and position him either as a “folk hero” or as the “hot assassin” who is “husband” material.
Since his arrest, Mangione has become an internet meme phenomenon, with variations of “#FreeLuigi” posted on X/Twitter over 50,000 times (per BBC News).
On Saturday (December 14), comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Thompson’s death in his monologue. During his fourth stint as Saturday Night Live (SNL) host, he touched on the internets reaction to Mangione.
“Everybody s fixated on how good-looking this guy looks, he said. If he looked like Jonah Hill, no one would care. They d already given him the chair already.
He continued: But he actually killed a man, a man! A man with a family, a man with kids ¦ I have real condolences for the Healthcare CEO ¦but you also gotta know, sometimes drug dealers get shot.
