Waterbomb LA , a K-pop festival, has been postponed after operational challenges,   its organisers have confirmed.

Los Angeles’ first edition of Waterbomb was supposed to take place on September 28 and 29 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Its line-up featured K-pop, K-hip-hop and EDM artists including Chung Ha, balladeer K.will, Lovelyz ˜s Ryu Su-jeong, ATEEZ, MAMAMOO ˜s Hwasa, Simon Dominic, BIG Naughty, GRAY and more.

However the festival has been postponed due to “operational challenges”, Waterbomb confirmed on social media. The statement clarifies that refunds for ticketholders will be processed within 30 days.

This was meant to be the first edition of the K-pop festival in Los Angeles.  Last month Waterbomb LA announced that it would be cutting prices for all ticket tiers following feedback from the community.

In a statement, the organisers explained that it had initially set higher ticket prices to cover [costs related to flights, accommodation, security and transportation related to artists] and ensure a reasonable profit .

However, the organisers responded to criticism from K-pop fans and lowered the price of tickets for Waterworks LA: “We recognise that this has become a burden for our fans. Therefore, we have decided to adjust the prices, prioritizing the event over profit, in order to reduce the burden on our customers.

Last week Taiwan’s edition of the K-pop festival, Waterbomb Taipei, was cancelled due to unstable weather. It was due to take place on September 14 and 15.

Typhoons could be expected during September in Taiwan, and organisers confirmed that the risk to attendees and performers would be too high.

Today MAMAMOO singer Hwasa, who was on the line-up for Waterbomb LA, announced the upcoming release of her second mini-album, titled ˜O .

˜O will be released on September 19 at 6pm KST. More information about the project is expected in the coming days.

Last month Chung Ha, also on the festival’s line-up, released a Y2K-inspired music video for her new single, titled ˜Algorithm .

The new music video for ˜Algorithm finds Chung Ha dressed in Y2K-inspired outfits, while the clip itself takes cues from social media platforms such as Instagram. Later, the singer leads a dance party at a nightclub with a neon-lit dancefloor.
