Interpol are back at work in the studio according to a new report, and drummer Sam Fogarino is getting back to playing following his recovery from spinal surgery.

Fogarino was forced to sit out the band s 2024 ˜Antics 20th anniversary UK and European tour following his operation.

As you may know, he wrote on social media, last year, I had to undergo spinal surgery, which resulted in me having to miss Interpol tour dates.

He continued: While the surgery and recovery has been successful, thus far, unfortunately I m dealing with continued health issues “ and will have to stay off the road for the time being.

Now, according to a new report from his reps (as per Rolling Stone), his recovery is progressing well.

The band’s reps said Fogarino was recovering from his back surgery, getting back to drumming as seen on his IG, and working closely with the rest of the band and Matador on ‘Antics’ assets”

They also went on to reveal that he was writing with the other band members for the next album , which will follow on from 2022’s ‘The Other Side Of Make-Believe’.

The indie veterans have announced plans to play their second LP in full across the UK in November, including stops in Manchester, Glasgow, London and more.

Now, they will wrap up their anniversary shows at Dublin s 3Arena on November 10. You can find any remaining tickets here.

The ˜Antics tour kicks off at The Halls in Wolverhampton on November 1, while support at the London date at Alexandra Palace (November 8) will come from  Dust  and  Iceage.

Interpol s ˜Antics 20th anniversary UK and Ireland tour dates are:

02 “ Manchester, O2 Apollo
04 “ Glasgow, Royal Concert Hall

Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler spoke to NME in March about the legacy of their second album, sharing: ˜Bright Lights was our first record, so we had a tiny budget and a small amount of time in the studio and had to make a very ˜live record. That record was really how the band sounded on stage at that moment. We just wanted to do that justice.

We were focused on that and being reasonable with what we could accomplish. For ˜Antics , we had the experience of having made a record and then toured for two years. When we came out of that, we wanted to make the studio work for us a bit more and get more out of the songs. There are more textures and the songs really hold you in the moment a little bit more.

Additionally, Interpol opened for Smashing Pumpkins  in Europe this summer. We did some shows with them last year and they were a lot of fun, Kessler told  NME.

We really try to feel it out each night per situation. I saw Smashing Pumpkins play when I was in high school, so it s really great to be playing with them.

The guitarist also shared an update on new music, saying: We re writing a lot this year and we don t have any specific recording plans, but we re working on it in between all this touring.

It s a little too early [to reveal how it sounds] but it s exciting, that s for sure.

Meanwhile, the band played a huge free show in Mexico City in April “ marking the biggest headline performance of their career.

In other news, Interpol recently added more gigs to their 2024 ˜Antics 20th-anniversary tour.
