Several Korean BTS fans have called for rapper Suga to leave the boyband following his recent DUI incident.

Last week, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station shared that the BTS rapper is currently under investigation after he was caught driving an electric scooter while under the influence on the night of August 6.  The incident has since sparked significant outrage in the past week, and has been the subject of heated online debate, both internationally and in South Korea.

Earlier today, Korea JoongAng Daily reported that some Korean fans of BTS have sent flower wreaths to HYBE s headquarters calling for Suga to leave the boyband. Flower wreaths are typically associated with funerals as a way of sending one s condolences, but have also become a popular method of protest in South Korea.

According to the news outlet, the wreaths carried messages demanding he leave the group, such as withdraw from the band, Min Yoon-gi (Suga s real name) and Min Yoon-gi, leave the group before standing in front of the photo line [taking a press photo before entering the police station] because it s embarrassing .

Other messages read: Congratulations on your downfall , How could you let us hear your life updates on the news , Aren t you sorry for your fans and You are the one who let go of our hands . The news outlet noted that the flower wreaths do not represent BTS fanbase as a whole, but were sent by individual fans calling for Suga s departure.

Suga is set to be questioned by the police regarding the circumstances of the incident. According to Korea Times, the investigation will likely revolve around whether or not Suga was aware that he was violating the Road Traffic Act, which prohibits driving under the influence of alcohol.

In a statement following the incident, the rapper apologised and confessed to consuming alcohol before riding home on the electric scooter, but said he was unaware that the act violated the Road Traffic Act. Suga admitted to his complacent thinking that it was a short distance and apologised for my failure to recognize that using an electric scooter while intoxicated was prohibited .
