Korean rapper Ch1tkey allegedly faked his own death in order to promote his new song, ‘Back’.

On July 29, South Korean news outlet Newsen reported on allegations that underground rapper Ch1tkey had fallen five storeys to his death while celebrating hitting a follower milestone.

An alleged acquaintance of Ch1tkey claimed, per Newsen, that the rapper had been “trying to pull off a prank on a roof” when the incident occurred, as translated by Koreaboo. “One of us promised our viewers that if we gained a certain amount of followers on Instagram, Ch1tkey would jump off the edge of the roof,” they added.

“When the follower quote was met, Ch1tkey and another acquaintance stood at the edge of the roof,” the alleged acquaintance continued. “Ch1tkey was supposed to pretend to fall off the roof and then end the stream after giving a random viewer a gift but he slipped and fell.”

According to  SBS Star, the rapper’s girlfriend had also seemingly confirmed that such an incident occurred with a post on social media, saying: “I just spoke with Ch1tkey’s mom for about an hour and a half. He was apparently unconscious in the emergency room.”

However, the hoax was revealed earlier today (July 31) when Ch1tkey took to Instagram Reels with a new post promoting his upcoming song, ‘Back’. He also captioned the post with: “Good seeing you again.”

Since then, the rapper has gone live on Instagram to address the situation, saying “why should I apologise” when viewers called him out for the hoax. “It was the journalists who falsely reported my death. They should have verified the facts before posting. It’s your fault for believing it as well.”

“I wanted to go viral with my life “ so what? […] I haven’t done anything wrong here,” he added.  “I don t regret anything and have no intention of apologizing or reflecting on my actions. Screw that. I just want to flip you all off.”
