Maps galore

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25 with 16 multiplayer maps at launch. Unlike 2023's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the roster of maps for Black Ops at launch are all brand-new. Modern Warfare III debuted with a bunch of maps recycled from past games--and players voiced their frustrations and concerns about this--but Black Ops 6 will hit the ground running with all-new maps.

"We know map flow and variety are critical to the best player experience, and we've got a great mix of map sizes for Black Ops fans at launch," developer Treyarch said.

Read on to see all the new maps for Black Ops 6, all of which are the game's core 6v6 modes and Strike. We have included Activision's official descriptions of the maps in the cases where the publisher provided them.

More maps will come over time through the game's seasonal model, including the newest version of Nuketown in November, so keep checking back with GameSpot for more.

Beyond standard multiplayer, Call of Duty: Warzone is getting its newest map, Area 99.

Subsonic (small)

Subsonic looks to be a map set in an hangar where airplanes are made. However, this place has seen better days.

Red Card (medium)

Red Card takes place at a soccer/football stadium featuring a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Vault (medium)

Vault is set in a bank featuring vault that's been blown open. Expect some chaos and mayhem in there. There is also a part of the map that's been flooded with water.

Payback (small)

Payback takes place at a huge mansion in the middle of nowhere featuring outdoor spaces and close-quarter indoor sections where the action is sure to get busy.

Vorkuta (medium)

Vorkuta appears to take place in frigid manufacturing center with long sightlines and dank-looking interiors.

Protocol (medium)

A huge helicopter sits on the Protocol map and looks to be a point of focus for this playspace, which seems to be set on a high cliff surrounded by water. This was a training map from the beta.

Lowtown (medium)

Lowtown takes players to an urban environment that's been blasted apart and is now on fire.

Babylon (small)

"Battle amongst the ruins of an ancient city, climbing on its crumbled columns and crawling underneath the palace. There’s plenty of verticality to make use of here, so stay limber as you circle the central alter and seek out the best ground. Back out to the chapel or depot for more concealed views or get heated and rush the middle."

Derelict (small)

"Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, a train graveyard lies shrouded by a lush forest. Abandoned and forgotten, this derelict depot along the NOR Appalachian Railroad has become a prime ambush point for Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One to face off in a deadly skirmish."

Rewind (medium)

"Visit the Liberty Shopping Plaza right on the edge of Liberty Falls, West Virginia and wreak havoc through the strip mall. This 6v6 map has a unique layout, as two outer lanes are connected by multiple routes through and around the shops, a video store in the middle housing several major objectives."

Scud (medium)

"Deploy to a desert military outpost following a devastating attack. The damaged radar dish and nearby buildings have taken several hits, the air thick with smoke from the surrounding fires. Bunker down in the depot or HQ or flank enemies in the trenches. Watch for snipers near the radar dish; its base provides a near 360-degree view."

Skyline (medium)

"Take in breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside from the rooftop of a luxury resort featuring an exquisite penthouse with access to a lounge, kitchen, gym, and pool. Descend into the panic room to cross under the map or fight in the open around the victims of a recent hit job."

Gala (strike)

"Explore the aftermath of an annual fundraising event in Washington, D.C. Get up on stage or kick back in the lounge. Along the sides, move through a makeshift bar, coatroom, and campaign stand. Every move counts on this tiny map, so get out there and punch the winning ticket."

Pit (strike)

"Burrow into a small subsection of an underground mining tunnel and collide in the central cave. A ventilation shaft casts some natural light over the cave, the mine tracks within circling back to the narrow tunnels. Climb up the ladders to reach an overhead vantage point or weave between the mine carts for ground floor cover."

Stakeout (strike)

"A stakeout in the Mediterranean region of Avalon has been compromised as Operators breach the small apartment, battling through the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and spilling out onto the balcony. Leftover surveillance equipment marks the progress of the conducted intel-gathering, a smashed-out wall giving the former agents easy access to their gear."

Warhead (strike)

Warhead is Black Ops 6's new take on Nuketown, imagining what it would look like had the nuke gone off and blasted everything to smithereens. This map was formerly known as Sand House.

Nuketown (coming November 1)

The fan-favorite Call of Duty map Nuketown makes its way to Black Ops 6 on November 1 as a (presumably free) DLC map. Based on the one image released so far, it appears this newest version of the map will hearken back to the franchise's roots in terms of style and visuals. If Warheard doesn't do it for you, the OG Nuketown is coming as well.
