Fans got their first look over the summer at Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance with the trailer premiere, but Netflix released a full four-minute clip of the upcoming film. Part of the long-running Gundam franchise, Requiem for Vengeance is the second production to be done entirely in computer animation--the first being Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO--and the first entire series animated using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.
"In the year 0079 UC (of the Universal Century), the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation, plunging the two nations into war," the official show synopsis reads. "Thanks to a revolutionary new weapon known as a Mobile Suit, the Zeon Force initially gains the upper hand. However, they lacked the power to take control of the entire Earth, bringing the war to a stalemate."
The film takes place eleven months into the war, and the clip shows the Earth Federation forces trying to seize a Zeon-controlled base located somewhere in Eastern Europe. As the skirmish goes on, pilot Iria Sorari and the Red Wolves division, a Mobile Suit platoon, join the fray.
