NBA 2K25 Best Players - Top 10 Players By Overall Rating

The time has come for the official reveal of the top 10 players in NBA 2K25. This particular list is always highly anticipated and hotly contested among fans in the community, as rarely does everyone agree on a certain player's overall (OVR) rating. While this year has a hot take or two, it's hard to argue with most of the choices 2K has made with the top 10 players out of the gate. You can see the entire top 10 players list for 2K25 below.

Nikola Jokic - 97 OVR

There's no surprise at the top of the list, as the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic has once again taken the spot. However, there is some confusion as to why Jokic isn't rated higher than 97, as he came in at 98 last year in 2K24. Either way, the Denver Nuggets center has continually proven he's the best overall player in the league and should yet again compete for the MVP award in 2025.

Luka Doncic - 97 OVR

Luka Doncic comes in at 97 OVR in 2K25, sharing the rating with Nikola Jokic. While the Dallas Mavericks star came up just short in the NBA Finals in 2024, his season was something to behold. Doncic is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor and his revenge tour in 2025 will make him an even more lethal opponent. However, we'll have to wait and see whether or not he can finally make it over the hump and win the coveted MVP award.

Giannis Antetokounmpo - 97 OVR

We have our final 97 OVR-rated player, and this time it's Milwaukee Bucks powerhouse Giannis Antetokounmpo. Always an MVP threat, Antetokounmpo has remained at the top of the NBA for several seasons, and there's little doubt that will change anytime soon. Perhaps a second season with fellow superstar Damian Lillard will be what Antetokounmpo and the Bucks need to make it back to the NBA Finals, but expect the Greek Freak to continue dominating on both ends of the floor regardless.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 96 OVR

The first major hot take of the list is Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander coming in at the number four spot. Gilgeous-Alexander comes in ahead of some bonafide NBA legends, but his 2024 season was nothing short of outstanding. He was a consistent MVP candidate and fueled the Thunder to a 57-win season, earning them the top spot in the Western Conference. While the team's playoff dreams fell short, Gilgeous-Alexander should be in for another big season with co-star Chet Holmgren getting another offseason under his belt.

Joel Embiid - 96 OVR

The Process is next up on the list, sliding in at the sixth overall spot. One year removed from his first MVP, Joel Embiid might have had a shot at a consecutive MVP award if not for missing so many games. While injuries remain a real concern for the 76ers big man, Embiid looked fantastic in the Olympics and could be in for a major rebound season in 2025. It also helps that Philly brought in Paul George to take some of the workload off Embiid's shoulders.

LeBron James - 95 OVR

While this rating might seem low for LeBron's standards, being a 95 OVR while approaching age 40 is something we might never see again in the NBA. The Olympics proved that LeBron is still one of the best players in the world without a shadow of a doubt. While The King isn't at the top of the NBA anymore, his numbers haven't dwindled too much from where they were a decade ago. The only question remaining with LeBron is whether he can get the Los Angeles Lakers back to playoff relevancy.

Stephen Curry - 95 OVR

Speaking of Olympic domination and recent playoff woes, Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors shares a 95 OVR rating with LeBron. Curry remains the unquestioned best shooter in the world and no one seems capable of taking that title from him in the near future. 2025 will be the first season in over a decade that Curry isn't sharing the floor with his fellow Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, but other moves has Golden State poised for a bounce-back season with number 30 leading the charge.

Jayson Tatum - 95 OVR

This is the second hot take of the top 10 list, as some fans feel Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum hasn't done enough to earn a spot over the likes of Kevin Durant. While Durant absolutely outplayed Tatum in the Olympics, it was Tatum who led the Celtics to one of the best NBA seasons ever in 2024. Tatum has turned into an outstanding all-around player, playing solid offense and defense while not being afraid to share the spotlight. The only goal left for Tatum to accomplish is an MVP award, which might be difficult to come by on such a stacked Celtics roster.

Kevin Durant - 94 OVR

Turning in an Olympic performance for the ages, Kevin Durant also quietly had a superb regular season in 2024. While the playoffs were a different story, Durant is still going strong as he approaches age 36. There are few stronger offensive players in the NBA, but KD might need to find another gear if the Phoenix Suns have a shot at competing in such a competitive Western Conference.

Anthony Davis - 94 OVR

Rounding out the top 10 list is Lakers star center Anthony Davis. Sharing the same floor as LeBron James has certainly caused a dip in Davis' numbers, but he's still one of the most dominant players on the floor at any given time. Injuries have continually been an issue for AD, but there's no denying how strongly he can impact a game when he's fully healthy and focused.
