Apex Legends Shockwave Battle Pass: All Rewards & How To Unlock For Free
The Shockwave battle pass is shockingly easy to unlock for free.
Apex Legends Season 22: Shockwave is finally here, bringing with it the first battle pass of the season (battle pass number two will arrive when Season 22 hits its midpoint). The Shockwave battle pass is a first for Apex Legends, which previously stuck to a single, 110-level battle pass each season, but has swapped that pass out for two 60-level battle passes that are jam-packed with valuable loot. The best part? The entire Shockwave battle pass can be unlocked for free.
Of course, there are also other ways to unlock the battle pass (spending real-life cash or spending Apex Coins), and the battle pass has three separate tiers: Free, Premium, and Premium+. Keep reading for a closer look at all the goodies in the battle pass and a guide to help you unlock the Premium tier without spending a single cent.
Before jump into the acquisition of the free Premium-tier battle pass, let's take a look at the differences between the battle pass's tiers, and the differences between them:
Free tier
The free version of the battle pass is, obviously, free. You don't need to do anything to unlock it, either--just fire up Apex Legends, play some matches, and you'll start unlocking loot. Naturally, the free version of the battle pass is the most underwhelming, but that doesn't mean it's not worth completing, especially if you're chasing Heirloom Shards--the free version of the battle pass includes some Apex Packs that can make that dream a reality (depending on your luck), along with some Apex Coins (AC).
Players who finish the free battle pass will earn a total of:
- 16 cosmetic items
- 200 AC
- 7 Apex Packs
Premium tier
The premium version of the battle pass is the one you can unlock for free, but it can also be purchased for 950 AC or $10 USD. The premium version of the battle pass is absolutely stuffed with eye-catching loot, and has recently been upgraded to include rewards that are actually worth it. The days of boring, Rare-tier cosmetics and seasonal stat trackers nobody wants to use are over, and the Premium-tier Shockwave battle pass includes 60 levels of Epic- and Legendary-tier cosmetics, tons of Apex Packs (including two Epic-tier and two Legendary-tier packs), and a decent amount of in-game currency. You can unlock this version of the Shockwave battle pass quite easily by completing the following in-game challenges:
- Play 2 matches in Trio E-District
- Open 15 Supply Bins
- Deal 1,000 damage as a Controller Legend or a Recon Legend
- Deal 500 damage with Akimbos in any game mode
- Complete 10 levels of the battle pass
Players who complete the Premium-tier Shockwave battle pass will earn a total of:
- 55 cosmetic items
- 1,300 AC
- 2,400 Crafting Metals
- 17 Apex Packs
- 10 Exotic Shards
Premium+ tier
The Premium+ tier of the battle pass can only be unlocked by purchasing it directly for $20 USD. But depending on your in-game goals, this version of the battle pass may be worth the money, as it includes the following bonuses:
- Instant 10-level battle pass boost
- All Legends playable for the duration of the battle pass
- 10 additional Exotic shards
- Neon Demon Fuse Legend skin
- Demon Claws Loba Legend skin
Players who complete the Premium+ version of the battle pass will earn a total of:
- 57 cosmetic items
- 1,300 AC
- 2,400 Crafting Metals
- 17 Apex Packs
- 20 Legendary Shards
Though many aspects of Apex's battle pass have changed, one still remains the same: Legendary-tier reactive weapon skins. Players who complete either the Premium or Premium+ battle pass will unlock the reactive Hunter's Best Friend Legendary weapon skin for the P2020, ensuring they can dual-wield Akimbo weapons in style.
