TMZ reported on Monday, January 6, that Holland, 28, popped the question to Zendaya, also 28, over the holidays. Us Weekly reached out to both actors’ reps for comment.
Zendaya sparked engagement rumors when she was spotted at the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet wearing a diamond ring on her left hand. After being asked by a reporter whether she was engaged, Zendaya “smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously,” the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday, January 5. Holland was not in attendance at the awards show.
The Euphoria star and the England native met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. In July 2017, Us Weekly confirmed that the actors were officially dating. Five months later, Us reported that Zendaya introduced the Cherry actor to her family.
“Tom has met Zendaya’s family and they love him,” a source shared with Us at the time. “They are still seeing each other, it’s been about a year.”
Zendaya, for her part, shared in August 2017 that Holland was “literally one of my best friends.” Their romance, however, stalled in the years between the first and second Spider-Man films.
Seven months after the July 2019 release of the Spider-Man sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, in February 2020, Zendaya was spotted kissing her Euphoria costar — who went on to date that fall. Holland, for his part, was linked to from 2019 to April 2020.
In February 2021, romance rumors were sparked once again after Holland accidentally tagged Zendaya’s Instagram handle on his groin in a social media post.
“That was so funny; it was obviously a mistake,” the English actor explained to British GQ at the time. “But in all seriousness, it is also incredibly frustrating. It’s very nerve-wracking. It means that if you are dating someone, you have to be really conscious of their feelings, because if something does happen between the two of you, it’s not just happening between the two of you, it’s happening in front of the entire world. And it can be very complicated. It’s one of the things I worry about most, of all the things in my career.”
Five months later, the pair were spotted kissing in a car in Los Angeles — confirming their romance.
In November 2021, one month before he and Zendaya made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere, Holland told Total Film that he felt “very happy and in love.”
“Zendaya and Tom are in the best place they could be right now,” an insider exclusively told Us the following month. “Going public with their relationship has made them even more strong and confident in their relationship.”
The two have also not been shy about sharing their love for each other on social media.
“My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx,” Holland wrote alongside a sweet selfie of the couple on Zendaya’s birthday in September 2021.
