Adam Sandler has officially dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel Happy Gilmore 2. The Netflix sees the Sand Man back on the golf course after nearly 29 years when the original movie was first released and cemented the actor in one of the most beloved comical roles of all time.
On Christmas Day, Sandler posted to Instagram the first teaser for the film which gives fans a glimpse of old and new companions. Julie Bowen returns as Happy's love interest, Virginia Venit, as does Christopher McDonald as his rival golfer, Shooter McGavin. Fans get a chance to see short clips of the cameos in the sequel in the teaser, including catching international superstar Bad Bunny's role in the film, alongside Margaret Qualley, Nick Swardson, Travis Kelce, Kid Cudi and Benny Safdie. Kyle Newacheck helms Happy Gilmore 2 with Dennis Dugan, the first film’s director executive producing with Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds producing. Tim Herlihy co-wrote the script for the sequel with Sandler.
The first film followed Happy, a hockey player who spins out of control with anger management and is need of another outlet as he goes on a mission to repay his grandmother's taxes. He later decides to enter a professional golf competition in hopes to win a big cash prize. Happy becomes the unlikely hero as he discovers his hidden talent for the sport. Not much of the plot details have not been shared for the sequel at the moment. In Sandler's post of the new teaser, he writes to his fans, "Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! And Happy Gilmore to all!!!!!!"
