OutKast is commemorating a new milestone as their 2003 track "Hey Ya!" is officially certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The RIAA confirmed that the Speakerboxxx/The Love Below track has sold 10 million units in the United States, following in the footsteps of its album that was certified diamond in December 2004 — just 15 months after its initial release. "Hey Ya!" was the duo's second single off the album, and went on to win the GRAMMY for Best Urban/Alternative Performance after also being nominated for Record of the Year and Best Music Video.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, André 3000 explained that a new OutKast album or tour were unlikely to happen, stating that he and fellow OutKast member Big Boi are “further away from it than we’ve ever been.” 3 Stacks continued, “I think it’s a chemistry thing. We have to be wanting to do it. It’s hard for me to make a rap, period, you know? And sometimes I’m in the belief of ‘Let things be.’” 3 Stacks also shared that OutKast songs “[require] a certain energy” that he no longer wants to have onstage at a certain age.
