A Barbie 2 sequel is reportedly in the works from director Greta Gerwig and co-writer Noah Baumbach.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that a sequel to the highly-successful film is currently in its "early stages," with Gerwig and Baumbach settling on a story that they can discuss with Warner Bros. Another source claims that the two will be "passing [the script] back and forth as they typically do" in order to get work started. There was no mention of the involvement of lead star and producer Margot Robbie.
Representatives for both Warner Bros. and Gerwig and Baumbach denied the rumors, however. “There is no legitimacy to this reporting,” the pair's rep said, with the Warner Bros. rep adding, “THR’s reporting is inaccurate.”
Stay tuned for any official announcement.
