is finding the magic in the holiday season as she continues her fight against breast cancer.
“I’m feeling really well,” Eggert, 52, exclusively told Us Weekly at The Hollywood Christmas Parade supporting Marine Toys for Tots on Sunday, December 1. “I’m feeling good. I’m gearing up to do radiation and then some surgeries and stuff like that. But I feel good spiritually. I feel good physically. I feel good.”
Back in 2023, the Baywatch alum called her doctor after feeling a lump during a self-exam. Following a discovery mammogram and three biopsies, Eggert’s pathology reports came back positive for cancer.
In January, Eggert revealed to the public that she was diagnosed with stage II cribriform carcinoma breast cancer. Over the summer, however, the actress shared via Instagram that she had a “full and complete response” to treatment.
While her health still has ups and downs, Eggert explained why she has chosen to be open and candid about her diagnosis on social media.
“I think that I’m helping a lot of other people who don’t talk about it and who aren’t as open,” she told Us while wearing a Silence + Noise coat at the parade. “They have a place to come and somebody to relate to that’s going through the same things. It also gives everybody a platform to start chatting and talking about what they did and how their experience was. You really learn a lot that way too. I think every platform that we can have to talk about this disease is good.”
Since sharing her diagnosis, Eggert has been blown away by the support of friends like actress . She was also quick to praise her two daughters Dilyn, 26, and Keegan, 13, for being by her side.
“Time can so easily escape you in life,” she told Us. “And these are kind of reminders of not letting that happen and staying in touch better. I just think that it’s just really nice to reconnect with everybody and stay in touch.”
Before saying goodbye to 2024, Eggert is optimistic about the future as she continues to fight the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers.
“I hope to just keep being able to continue on and fight this the way it’s been going, which is quite successful,” Eggert said. “I just [hope for] happiness and that people enjoy their time.”
The Hollywood Christmas Parade airs on The CW Saturday, December 14, at 8 p.m. ET.
