Between Andrew’s ongoing crisis and Charles and Princess ’s respective cancer battles, it’s been a challenging year for the royal family. Earlier this month, candidly admitted that “dreadful” 2024 has “probably been the hardest” of his life during an interview from Cape Town, South Africa, at the Earthshot Prize Event.
“Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” said William, 42, who is next in line for the crown. “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. It’s been brutal.”
Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February. One month later, Kate, 42, who has been married to William since 2011, revealed that she had been undergoing chemotherapy for a cancer diagnosis.
Charles’ treatments are still ongoing, but Kate announced in September that she had completed chemotherapy and is doing everything she can to “stay cancer free.”
