Streetwear staple brand Carhartt WIP and Japanese furniture brand Nychair X have come together to reveal a foldable chair and ottoman set. Arriving in Carhartt WIP's classic Hamilton Brown, the collapsible chair and ottoman takes on the original silhouette first designed and launched by Japanese designer Takeshi Nii in 1970.
According to the Nychair X, the original chair was designed to be "like the curry rice everybody loves." The custom colorway for the Carhartt WIP collaboration adds a touch of nostalgia to the piece. While the tan brown hue is reminiscent of the staple Carhartt WIP workwear pieces, the chair is constructed with Kurashiki sailcloth canvas which Nychair X usually uses for its products. Both the foldable chair and the ottoman sit on crossing stainless steel legs and feature two straight, cylindrical armrests made out of 100% wood. Made ergonomically to emphasize comfort, the chair is lightweight and foldable, featuring an angeled backrest that sits low to the ground. Nychair X says that the set "fits into a floor space around the size of a dinner table. The chair's minimalist design creates a place to relax without taking up much space."
Carhartt WIP's label can be seen on the pieces and this collaboration is only one of very few partnerships the streetwear staple has done with a furniture company since opening in 1994. The chair and the ottoman are now available online with a price range of $458 to $788 USD.
