is still reeling over a major legal loss to former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City costar .
“I am in shock this morning. There is so much going on around us right now. There is so much happening in our country and world that it’s astounding to me that a lawsuit is even on anyone’s radar,” Garcia, 39, captioned an Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 6. “But here we are.”
The U.S. Sun reported on Tuesday, November 5, that Garcia was ordered to pay a total of $35,853.60 to Gay’s Beauty Lab + Laser after a year-long legal battle. The medspa filed a proposed judgment in a Salt Lake City court late last month, which was approved by a judge on Monday, November 4.
Garcia claimed in her Instagram Story on Wednesday that her lawyers “made comments to the outlets reaching out” and alleged that the statements have not been shared publicly. She proceeded to offer a glimpse of their response.
“This was a shocking and bad decision,” Garcia wrote. “We have every intention of appealing and are confident in the outcome moving forward.”
Gay’s Beauty Lab + Laser initially sued Garcia in August 2023 for breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Court documents obtained by Us Weekly at the time alleged that Garcia failed to pay $2,449 for cosmetic procedures despite signing a contract in December 2019.
Documents indicated that Garcia paid the initial $499 but failed to complete the remaining monthly payments. Beauty Lab stated that they were seeking “not less than $2,000” from Garcia. (Gay and Garcia were both cast members on RHOSLC season 4 last year. Garcia left the show following the reveal that she was one of the people behind the Reality von Tease Instagram gossip account.)
Tuesday’s report from The U.S. Sun explained that Garcia will pay the initial $2,000 she owed the medspa plus pre-judgment interest at 18 percent per year. Calculated from February 2020 until October 2024, the interest adds $1,683.62. Garcia was also charged a $15 late fee plus costs and fees of $604.98 and Beauty Lab’s attorney fees, which totaled $31,550.
“My girls are healthy, I stay grateful and blessed for every opportunity I’ve been given. There is so much in my life happening that I have to be thankful for and that I’m so excited about,” Garcia’s social media statement continued. “At the end of the day, being sued by someone is minuscule in the grand scheme of things.”
She added, “I am not the first housewife/bravolebrity to be in this situation, nor will I be the last. … Believe me when I say, we have so much more to worry about.”
