made a rare comment about his girlfriend, — and he had nothing but nice words to say about the pop star.
“Are you in a relationship with Sabrina Carpenter?” asked the actor, 32, on the Monday, November 4, episode of “The Louis Theroux Podcast.” Keoghan responded, “Oh, I knew you’d do this,” before praising Carpenter, 25.
“Listen, all I’m going to say is I’m incredibly blessed. [She’s] such a strong, independent lady who’s massively talented and yeah, [she’s] pretty special. Louis, you got me!” he gushed. “I was in ‘Please Please Please.’ Great video. Great music.”
Theroux, 54, went on to call Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” music video “brilliant,” adding, “You play the boyfriend. He’s in prison, he’s a bad boy. She’s trying to leave him but she can’t resist his evident physical charms.”
Keoghan quipped in response, “Are you saying I’m charming?” Theroux noted that Keoghan looked “pretty jacked in the video.”
Keoghan and Carpenter have kept their relationship pretty low-key since they were first romantically connected in December 2023. They continued to fuel dating rumors by attending several of the same public events, including a W Magazine Grammys afterparty in February and the Vanity Fair Oscars party in March.
In March, a source exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair became exclusive in January. “They really took things slow at first, but the relationship is going strong,” the insider shared. “They are both very casual people and enjoy being low-key in their downtime. They aren’t putting too much pressure on things, and Sabrina loves that Barry understands she is extremely busy with her work commitments right now.”
Keoghan was later spotted filming Carpenter during her Coachella set in April, during which she gave him a shout-out by referencing his Saltburn character’s infamous bathtub scene during one of her “Nonsense” outros. “He’s drinking my bathwater like it’s red wine,” she jokingly sang.
One month after posing together on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet, Keoghan starred as Carpenter’s love interest in her June music video for “Please Please Please.” The track was the second single off of Carpenter’s latest album Short n’ Sweet, which features many songs rumored to be about her and Keoghan’s romance.
Carpenter told CBS Sunday Morning last month that she cast Keoghan because of his acting abilities. “I, genuinely — like, a not-even-biased opinion — I was like, ‘Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video?’” she shared. “And he was next to me in a chair. And he was so excited about it!”
Keoghan continued to support Carpenter at her Short n’ Sweet Tour stop in Charlottesville, Virginia on October 20. Per fan footage shared via social media, Keoghan seemingly covered a smile while watching Carpenter perform the song “Bed Chem.”
