Having previously worked as Head of Menswear at Norse Projects, Raff Godfrey has just unveiled his latest capsule collection; this time, it's for rising label Work and Days, which is presenting its new collection for Fall/Winter 2024.
Work and Days' latest collection is continuing to refine its design language by exploring its use of natural textiles and technical fibers, while also experimenting with how they can be combined to optimize their unique properties. To achieve this, wool blend fibers are hot-washed, while the garments feature traditional "jean seams" and workwear constructions which provide each piece with unique quality and a "lived-in" feel that is usually only earned over time.
Additionally, the collection spotlights two key fabrics: Japanese Woolfast Gaberdine and Japanese Technical Wool Shirting. The former is a wool-poly blend that offers the durability, quick-drying, and anti-wrinkle qualities of military-inspired gaberdines. The latter takes cues from industrial fabrics, using a warp-knit tricot blend that brings luxury wool comfort to a fabric usually reserved for high-performance uses.
Highlights from the collection include a new Nylon Weather Cloth Down Vest -- a new addition for FW24 -- as well as the existing Weather Cloth Hooded Jacket, which has evolved with new and improved details. For example, the Weather Cloth fabric is a matt, texturized nylon with the character traits of natural cotton, but with the repellency and lightness of nylon.
