SteelSeries Announces Arctis GameBuds for Xbox, PS5 and PC

Gaming peripherals brand SteelSeries is updating its popular Arctis product line with a new set of gaming earbuds it calls Arctis GameBuds and claims will provide "the ultimate HiFi listening experience for console gaming."

The Arctis GameBuds are powered by a brand new, custom-built chipset that SteelSeries claims to have "co-developed with a key technology partner" – the brand, however, has not confirmed who this partner is. SteelSeries says that the Arctis GameBuds will include many of the features found in its flagship headphones, including EQ control, custom sound profiles, spatial audio, and active noise cancelling made possible thanks to four onboard microphones.

In terms of connectivity options, the new earbuds will support both Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4Ghz wireless, with the latter coming in especially handy for Xbox and PS5 users given that the consoles don't support Bluetooth audio. The ultra-low latency of a 2.4Ghz connection takes the Arctis GameBuds into competitive gaming territory and makes these earbuds a potential good choice for gamers that require real time sound response. Users will be able to easily switch between Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz with Quick-Switch, a feature that jumps between the two connections with a triple tap of the on-ear button. SteelSeries is also including an USB-C dongle for the 2.4Ghz connection that conveniently stores inside the charging case next to the earbuds, meaning users are always ready to go.

Like many of SteelSeries' products, battery life on the Arctis GameBuds is quite impressive and players can expect to get around 10 hours of game time per charge. The charging case itself holds three full charges and will support Qi wireless charging for a cable-free experience. As well as this, SteelSeries is promising major ergonomic comfort with its Arctis GameBuds and claims to have used "over 62,000 ear scans" to inform its product's design and development.

The Arctis GameBuds are available to pre-order now via the SteelSeries website priced at $159.99 USD, and can be found at retail outlets starting October 29.
