BMW M continues its longstanding tradition as the "Official Car of MotoGP" with the debut of its latest example, the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car. Unveiled at a special customer event in Milan.

The new M5 Safety Car is designed to showcase BMW M’s commitment to cutting-edge hybrid technology, featuring a model-specific M HYBRID system that combines a V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor, producing a maximum output of 727 hp. Equipped with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive, this powerhouse promises to deliver outstanding performance on the racetrack.

On the exterior, the safety car incorporates bold styling cues from BMW M’s motorsport heritage. The graffiti-inspired livery echoes the design of the BMW M Hybrid V8 race cars, which compete in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M, emphasized the brand’s commitment to safety and innovation during the unveiling. “We are proud of our long-standing partnership with MotoGP and continue to ensure safety with the most innovative high-performance automobiles,” he said.

Special modifications for racetrack use include carbon fiber components, Recaro seats, a fire extinguisher and other safety features. Among the notable guests at the event was nine-time motorcycle world champion Valentino Rossi, who now races as a BMW M works driver. The high-performance vehicle will make its racetrack debut on September 7 at the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini at Misano.
