In a tribute to the legendary Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert, Porsche has unveiled a one-of-a-kind 911 GT3 RS. This unique model commemorates both Siffert's legacy and the 55th anniversary of the Porsche 917's first victory at the Österreichring.

On August 10, 1969, Jo Siffert, alongside Kurt Ahrens, secured the first international 1,000-kilometre race win for the Porsche 917, a car initially deemed challenging due to its high speeds and advanced aerodynamics. This victory at the Österreichring marked the beginning of the 917's success story, a narrative now honored through this exclusive 911 GT3 RS.

The vehicle’s design pays homage to the 917, featuring Pure White paint with Viper Green accents, reflecting the original race car's livery. The number 29, Siffert's race number, is prominently displayed on the doors, bonnet and valve caps. Authentic sponsor decals from Bosch and Shell have also been recreated with meticulous detail.

Inside, the 911 GT3 RS boasts a racing-inspired aesthetic with Black and Guards Red Race-Tex materials. The headrests are embroidered with a helmet motif, and Jo Siffert's signature graces the center console cover and the leather key case. The car key itself is also a work of art, customized with Pure White and Viper Green detailing.

Jo Siffert's family played a significant role in the creation of the car. His son Philippe, a former Formula Ford and Formula 3 driver, and grandson Jérémy participated in the design process. Philippe expressed his excitement, noting the extraordinary craftsmanship and historical accuracy that transformed the 911 GT3 RS into a unique tribute.

Built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur under the Sonderwunsch program, this tribute car will be showcased at Swiss Porsche centers in August 2024 before headlining the "Auto Zürich" trade fair from November 7 to 10. Porsche says prospective buyers will have the opportunity to be selected at random — with more information likely to be shared at the respective events.
