Volkswagen has revealed the first photos of its new Transporter and Caravelle models, produced collaboratively with Ford as part of their ongoing partnership. The seventh-generation Transporter product line includes panel vans, Kombis, dropside trucks and Caravelle passenger transporters, each designed with enhanced features and modern drive systems.
Building on the iconic design of its predecessor, the T6.1, the new Transporter and Caravelle boast turbodiesel, plug-in hybrid and electric drive options. This marks the first time Volkswagen's vans offer such a diverse range of powertrains. Customers can choose from three different turbodiesel engines, a 171kW plug-in hybrid, or electric drives with outputs ranging from 100kW to 210kW.
The Transporter series is available in various configurations to meet different needs. These include the panel van for goods transport, the panel van Plus with an additional seat row, the Kombi for passenger transport and a double cab variant with a long wheelbase. The new Caravelle notably offers up to nine seats and comes in entry-level, Life and top-tier Style versions.
Significant improvements have been made in terms of space, payload and towing capacity. The Transporter now offers a payload capacity of up to 1.4 tons and a towing capacity of 3 tons. Enhanced standard features include LED headlights, a digital cockpit and advanced driver assistance systems. The PanAmericana variant, known for its rugged design, is also part of the lineup, featuring all-terrain trims and exclusive interior details.
Specifics on price and availability have not yet been shared at the time of writing but are expected to be available through your local Volkswagen dealer.
