An extremely rare and meticulously enhanced 1996 Porsche 911 Speedster remastered by Gunther Werks and dubbed the "Skyfall" commission, is soon to be up for auction via RM Sotheby’s. This model, one of only 25, showcases extensive structural and functional integration of carbon fiber, making it one of the most comprehensively enhanced Porsche 911s ever built.
Notably, the car features a multi-brand touch, with the exterior finished in Aston Martin Skyfall Silver, complemented by Mercedes-Benz Classic Red Nappa leather trim. The naturally aspirated, air-cooled 4.0L flat six-cylinder engine delivers 430 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, propelling the car from 0-60 mph in under four seconds.
Gunther Werks, based in Huntington Beach, California, has transformed the 993-generation 911 into a marvel of modern engineering. The car features a carbon fiber chassis and body panels, a bespoke DGR active coilover suspension and custom suspension components. The engine, rebuilt by Rothsport Road and Race in Oregon, includes forged internals and race-spec equipment, ensuring top-tier performance.
The Speedster's design pays homage to Porsche's legendary drop-top models with a shortened windscreen and no side windows. Additionally, Gunther Werks' use of carbon fiber results in a chassis that is twice as stiff as the standard coupe without added weight. Chassis 992 stands out with its Salsa Red GT brake calipers, nickel-finished billet mirrors and optional carbon magnesium Fuchs-style wheels with a Graphite finish. The interior boasts a blend of exposed carbon fiber, Classic Red Nappa leather and Dunkegrau Alcantara.
With only 93 miles on the odometer, this rare Gunther Werks Speedster is estimated to fetch as much as $1,100,000 USD and will be available to view and bid on as part of RM Sotheby's Monterey Sale, starting August 15.
