Gucci To Reveal Ancora Design Project in Milan

After producing a series of immersive experiences in Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing and Shenzhen to celebrate its Spring/Summer 2024 manifesto last week, Gucci has announced plans to reveal a new project during the upcoming Milan Design Week, titled Design Ancora.

"Design Ancora is the occasion for Gucci’s Creative Director Sabato De Sarno to define the multifaceted meaning of iconicity at the intersection of the solid legacies of design masters and brands," the Italian fashion house said in a statement. "The golden age of Italian design has contributed to broadcast worldwide the Italian mastery, across craftsmanship and serial reproduction."

The project will include five special-edition objects that symbolize "Italianity" — and, more specifically, "Milananness." From a "bygone era," the pieces will serve to platform the House's timeless stature with "contemporaneity."

Notably, Design Ancora will touch down at Gucci's Via Montenapoleone flagship store, which houses several notable Italian furniture designs, including Cassina's "Utrecht" armchair, Mario Bellini's "La Bambola" armchair and Piero Lissoni's "Rod" seat, among others. Architect Guillermo Santomal will design the space where Design Ancora's objects will be displayed in the shop.

Gucci's Design Ancora project will run from April 15 to 21, aligning with Milan's global design trade show Salone del Mobile. The brand noted that the products will be available to purchase following the presentation, via Gucci's webstore.
