Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed to death in his own home.

The teenager, who has not been named, died inside a property in Lovett Avenue, Oldbury, at around 4pm on Thursday, West Midlands Police said.

The two teenagers, who have not been identified by police, were arrested on Sunday and taken into custody for questioning.

In a statement from West Midlands Police, the force said: ‘Two boys were today (Sunday) detained in connection with the fatal stabbing in Lovett Avenue on Thursday (29 August).

‘They have been taken into police custody for questioning.

‘The family of the 13-year-old boy who died are aware of the developments in our investigation. Our thoughts remain with them at this devastating time.’

A local mum whose son is in the same year at school as the victim said she ‘felt sick’ after hearing about the incident.

Another woman who lives nearby said she has two young boys and the incident had terrified her.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk earlier this week, a man who lives a few houses up from the scene said the area used to be ‘very peaceful’ until late last year.

‘I would wake up at midnight and see … boys walking on the street, kicking bins over and so on.’

This is the third fatal stabbing of a teenager in the West Midlands over the last year, following the deaths of 15-year-old Isaac Brown and 17-year-old Harleigh Hepworth.
