Woman, 27, stabbed to death in broad daylight as killer on the loose

A killer is still on the loose after stabbing a woman to death in a busy city centre ‘in broad daylight’ in front of shocked onlookers.

Police are still trying ‘to locate and arrest the man responsible’, after he was said to run from the scene in Bradford.

A murder investigation is underway after the incident at the junction of Westgate and Drewton Road at 3:21pm yesterday.

The woman was taken to hospital where she sadly later died. She is yet to be formally identified, but police believe she is 27 years old.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Stacey Atkinson described the stabbing as a ‘shocking incident that has happened in broad daylight.’

She said the area of the city in West Yorkshire was busy at the time and said police understand the attack was ‘witnessed by a number of people’.

DCI Atkinson said: ‘A young woman has lost her life in the most awful circumstances, and we have extensive enquiries ongoing to locate and arrest the man responsible.

‘We understand that this incident will understandably cause concern in the local community, and I would like to reassure the wider public that we are working tirelessly to investigate this horrendous crime and bring the person responsible to justice.

‘To help us with this we are urging anyone who was in the area who may have dashcam footage or seen or heard something, however small it may seem, to please come forward.

‘A scene remains in place which includes some road closures and I thank the public for their patience while we conduct our enquiries.’
