A man calling himself ‘The Eunuch Maker’ is facing jail for livestreaming castrations to a paying audience.
Marius Gustavson, 46, kept his own severed penis in a drawer for four years, police discovered when they raided his home in December 2021.
He also kept a freezer stocked with various body parts, including testicles which he had chopped off other men.
After removing one man’s testicles, he sent him a photo of the container saying, ‘My freezer is almost full’.
Another photograph of himself sucking on a severed penis was also shown to the court.
The Old Bailey heard how Gustavson initially offered £500 to male escort Damien Byrnes, 36, to castrate him, later slashing the price to £50, the court heard.
Texts between the two saw Byres tell Gustavson ‘If something goes wrong during or after, just for assurance, you did it to yourself. I’m not getting in trouble for this.’
He said he would be wearing a balaclava so his face would not appear in the video.
Byrnes has already been jailed for five years after admitting to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Extremely graphic video footage of the event showed Gustavson gagged and strapped to the bed by Byres as he prepares to perform the procedure.
Prosecutor Caroline Carberry, KC told the court: ‘Byrnes places a gag around Mr Gustavson’s head and mouth and he kneels at the foot of the bed between Mr Gustavson’s legs. He is wearing gloves and holding a red kitchen knife in his right hand.
Byrnes then removed the penis.
Ms Carberry said: ‘Byrnes holds it and pulls the tube out of it and shows it to Mr Gustavson who, once ungagged, tells Mr Byrnes to place the severed penis on his belly, which he does.
‘Mr Byrnes then lifts the severed penis and holds it towards Mr Gustavson’s face. Mr Gustavson licks the end of it and declares that it is “awesome”.
The procedures are part of a ‘nullo’ subculture where men have their penis and testicles removed, procedures that earned Gustavson up to £200,000 with 29 extreme body modifications over six years.
The Norwegian, wheelchair-bound after forcing the NHS to amputate his leg, broadcast the operations to subscribers paying up to £100 a year for his ‘Eunuch Maker’ website.
Gustavson admitted conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, five counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing criminal property, namely money and making and distributing two indecent videos of a child between January 2017 and January 2020.
He now faces a prison sentence alongside six other members of the body modification cult.
These include Gustavson’s right-hand-man, the surgeon Peter Wates, 67, Romanian Ion Ciucur, 30, German Stefan Scharf, 61.
The other three are former surgical assistant David Carruthers, 61, his boyfriend Ashley Williams, 32, and Janus Atkin, 39, all from South Wales.
Carruthers and Atkin have admitted conspiracy to commit bodily harm.
Another two men have already been jailed after admitting to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Jacob Crimi-Appleby, 23, was jailed for three years and eight months, while Nathaniel Arnold, 48, was given a two year suspended sentence.
Both admitted to removing Gustavson’s body parts.
Gustavson encouraged victims to say they had self mutilated if they ended up in hospital.
The court was shown a blurred ‘selfie’ video of Gustavson sucking on a severed penis.
Ms Carberry said: ‘It was not uncommon for excised genitlia to be kept by some of these defendants.
‘On 16 November 2017, 10 days after Mr Atkin’s testicles are removed Mr Gustavson sends an image from the inside of his freezer captioned with the words “my freezer is almost full.”
‘Within those containers there appear to be body parts, testicles and possibly in the takeaway type box- a penis.
‘In fact Gustavson’s own penis was found by officers in a drawer at his home on 10 December 2021 almost four years after it had been amputated.
Gustavson, Wates, Ciucur, Williams, Atkin, Carruthers and Scharf will be sentenced after a two-day hearing at the Old Bailey.
