Coronation Street fans are speculating that Mason Radcliffe (played by Luca Toolan) was about to become a father for the first time before his tragic demise in a violent assault. In Monday's heart-wrenching episode (January 6), young Mason had plans to relocate to Germany for a fresh start, thanks to a job offer from Stu.

However, just hours before his scheduled flight, he was brutally attacked by his brothers, Logan (Harry Lowbridge) and Matty Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff), leading to a rapid escalation of events.

In an attempt to aid Mason, his former tormentor Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) rushed to grab a knife with the intention of warding off the attackers. Tragically, during the ensuing scuffle, Mason was stabbed in the chest and left dying in the children's play area at the precinct.

Abi Webster (Sally Carmen) was the first to discover Mason in his critical state and did her utmost to stem the bleeding while awaiting the delayed ambulance, which had been held up due to a prank call.

A distraught Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) also arrived on the scene, where she and Abi tried to reassure a terrified Mason that he would survive. As Mason was whisked away to hospital, Betsy declared her love for him, but sadly, efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, reports Lancs Live.

Just days prior to this tragic incident, Mason and Betsy had enjoyed a romantic dinner together, culminating in a kiss and seemingly confirming their relationship.

Coronation Street fans are abuzz with speculation about a potential teenage pregnancy plot for Betsy, prompted by the death of her recent romantic interest, Mason. Social media has been rife with viewer theories since the tragic storyline twist.

On one platform, a fan speculated: "Calling it now- Betsy is pregnant. Mason's cute dinner date would have been enough to establish that they're a sweet teenage couple. Lisa caught them but no real aftermath of that with Lisa and Betsy? But Corrie made a point to show that they were sleeping together so.... #corrie."
