BBC news presenter Clive Myrie sparked concern on Monday (6 January) during the BBC News At Six broadcast as his left eye seemed to droop progressively throughout the show.

Viewers who spotted the alarming change took to social media platforms expressing their worries. One concerned individual posted: "I hope Clive Myrie's OK. A lot of us are noticing his droopy eye."

Another queried: "What's the matter with Clive Myrie's left eye? " A third echoed a similar sentiment, asking: "What's wrong with Clive Myrie's eye tonight?"

Another queried: "#BBCNews what has Clive Myrie done to his eye, has someone thumped him?"

Clive has since broken his silence after his appearance caused an influx of concerning messages on social media.

Taking to X tonight the Mastermind host assured viewers he is doing well.

He penned: "Happy N.Year everyone and thank you all for your concern over my left eye. It’s nothing serious, just an infection. I did think about wearing an eye patch, but the boss said no! A bit like Long John Silver. He wasn’t having any of it! Cheers."
