Sean Dyche is reportedly facing an uncertain future as Everton weigh up whether to sack their manager following their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Dyche, who has been in charge since January 2023, has come under fire this season after a poor run of form which has left Everton facing yet another relegation run-in.

The Toffees currently sit a point above the drop-zone in 16th, having taken just one win from their last 11 Premier League games as well as failing to score in nine of those matches.

But there is a growing sense of discontent amongst the club's fanbase that Everton are not making sufficient progress on the pitch with Dyche's negative tactics, despite holding Chelsea and Manchester City to draws in December.

According to Sky Sports News, the club's new owners, the Friedkin Group, have been evaluating the 53-year-old's future 'since the final whistle' at the Vitality Stadium after a poor run of form.

The consortium - led by American bilionaire Dan Friedkin - completed their £400million takeover on December, which saw them acquire a 99.5 per cent stake in the club and bring an end to Farhad Moshiri's reign as owner.

The report claims they were initially focused on bringing stability to the club, but are now prepared to review Dyche's position at the club after their results took an adverse turn.

The Friedkin Group also own a majority stake at Serie A club AS Roma, and they have already pulled the trigger on two managers this season.

Claudio Ranieri is now in the dugout after Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric - now at Southampton - were both fired earlier in the season.

Everton have not played outside the top flight since 1953-54, but the club have plunged into relegation battles over the past three seasons, finishing 16th, 17th and 15th respectively.

Dyche steered the Merseyside outfit to safety in the second half of the 2022-23 season after succeeding Frank Lampard at the helm. He has been forced to contend with tight financial measures at Goodison Park while the club prepare to move to their new stadium at Bramley Dock next season.

Aside from their £18m capture of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, Dyche have been forced to rely upon loan signings such as Armando Broja, Orel Mangala and Jesper Lindstrom with the club's transfer coffers somewhat limited.

The former Burnley boss also kept them up even after they were docked two points for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) - an independent panel found they had exceeded the maximum losses allowed by £16.6m for the three-year period to 2022-23.

But with David Moyes being linked to an emotional return to Merseyside and other coaches such as Graham Potter currently without work, it remains to be seen whether Dyche will be trusted to remain in the job.

Dyche's contract expires at the end of the season and, asked about his future, he said: "Winning games always stands you in good stead.

"Other than that he [executive chairman Marc Watts] made it quite clear, face-to-face, they have nothing but support for me, the staff and the team. But you have to win games, that's a natural process.
