GB News has come under fire from its viewers after announcing a significant change to its popular Breakfast show lineup. Popular presenter Isabel Webster, 41, will no longer host alongside Eamonn Holmes, 65.

Instead, Ellie Costello, 31, who has been promoted within the network, will take over hosting duties five days a week.

Webster, who helped launch the Breakfast show with Holmes in 2022 and has previously worked for Sky News and the BBC, is widely regarded by fans as a key asset to the program.

The decision to replace her has sparked a wave of criticism from the audience, many of whom have expressed their dissatisfaction and disappointment.

One disgruntled viewer commented: "Isabel is probably the best news presenter available. What on earth is going on? She is by far superior to EH!" This sentiment was echoed across various platforms, with another fan stating: "They should have kept Isabel Webster and got rid of Eamonn Holmes makes you wonder what planet the person is on who is making these decisions."

The negative reaction continued: "Oh no. Sorry, that’s me out. Can’t watch her every day. Isabel is GB News," and "Isabel is wonderful. She will be missed. Really disappointed in this."

Amidst the backlash, some fans speculated that the network's decisions could lead to viewers switching off. "Tragic...these decisions will result in viewers looking elsewhere," one viewer speculated.

The conversation also included concerns about the stability of employment at the channel. "No one's safe on that channel; hope they are not getting too big for their boots."

Further comments suggested that regulatory pressures might be impacting programming choices. "Axed or moving on before the OFCOM hammer falls?" questioned one concerned fan. Another complained about the network's direction: "Sometimes change happens, but over the last year or two GB News has given the boot to good presenters possibly due to left-wingers complaining to OFCOM.

"GB News needs to be careful they don't lose their audience, it's getting difficult to watch with the loud mouths talking over everyone else. Could it be that GB News is being overly controlled by OFCOM or maybe the left-wingers are buying in?"

A GB News spokesperson said on Wednesday: "Ellie Costello will now co-host GBN Breakfast five days a week, presenting alongside Eamonn Holmes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and with Stephen Dixon on Thursday and Friday. Stephen and Anne Diamond will continue to co-present GB News Breakfast at Weekends."

The news comes amid a huge shake-up at the channel which has also seen Mark Dolan "relieved from his duties".

The Friday Night Live presenter tweeted on Wednesday evening: "STATEMENT. GB News have made the decision to permanently relieve me of my duties at the channel. I will speak publicly about this in due course."
