BBC Casualty exit 'sealed' in Christmas special as star teases being 'killed off'
Casualty star Michael Stevenson, known for his role as Iain Dean in the popular BBC drama, has spoken out about the potential demise of his character.
The actor's comments follow a teaser for the show's Christmas episode that hints at a tragic turn of events in the emergency department.
In the gripping preview, Siobhan McKenzie (portrayed by Melanie Hill) alerts her team: "The hospital is on amber warning. Blood supplies are low."
The scene then shifts to a devastating accident involving paramedic Iain, followed by a chilling voiceover: "We have lost contact with Iain."
As the heart-wrenching trailer concludes, another voice adds: "It is just another day, Stevie," reports Wales Online.
The Christmas special will see a huge crash (Image: BBC)While it remains uncertain whether Iain survives the crash, Michael recently discussed the dramatic scenes and the constant threat of his character being written out of the show.
"I am always worried they are going to do that," he quipped when asked about the possibility of his character meeting a grim end.
"Ask any actor when they open the script, they look for that page and they go, 'Oh, no I am safe'."
He went on to say: "It was quite difficult being involved in all the stunts and the stuff we do on location. It is a privilege, and it never gets old, any stunt or anything we do on location like that.
Will Iain survive the crash? (Image: BBC)"Whether it's a crash or an explosion or whatever we do and I love doing night shoots, there is something special about doing night shoots.
"You're kind of hidden away from everybody, creating this little secret that no one knows about."
"They're always exciting to film," he revealed, adding: "And there is always an excitement among the crew when it comes to that moment to do the crash."
The synopsis for the Christmas special, set to air on Saturday, states: "The festive special All I Want For Christmas is a format-breaking standalone episode that will bring home the 'true' meaning of Christmas.

"It's Christmas Day in the ED, and the team is faced with an emergency blood shortage."
"While Stevie (Elinor Lawless) battles to save lives, Iain risks his own to ensure the hospital doesn't run out."
"The episode will also feature real-life testimonies from contributors who've been directly impacted by UK blood donation, as well as interviews with key workers who form the country's service."
But the burning question remains, will Iain make it through?
Casualty returns on Saturday on BBC One.
