Creators of BAFTA-recognised free to stream show tease 'even messier' second season
Creators Kyla Harris and Lee Getty have teased an even wilder forthcoming season of their well-received comedy-drama, We Might Regret This.
The series, which made its debut on BBC Two in August, revolves around a Canadian tetraplegic character Freya (played by Harris) who relocates to the UK to cohabit with her significant other Abe (Darren Boyd).
The plot thickens as Freya's relationship takes a turbulent turn after her closest friend Jo (Elena Saurel) assumes the role of her personal aide and embarks on a tumultuous affair with Abe's son Levi (Edward Bluemel), who is navigating the waters of his divorce from wife Jane (acted by Sally Phillips).
Harris and Getty were ecstatic to join the elite BAFTA Breakthrough roster for 2024, backed by Netflix, enthusiastic about the propulsion it will give their careers within Britain's film and TV industry.
"We both have projects that we work on together and also individually so I think, hopefully, it will just strengthen our relationships within the film and TV community and industry," Harris told Screen Time.

A profoundly resonant moment unfolds within the narrative when Freya acquires her new power wheelchair, a scene Harris divulged encapsulated over a decade of deep-seated and complex emotions. "It was essentially 10-15 years of emotions condensed into one episode," she divulged, reports the Mirror.

"I always say there's no real difference between a bicycle and a wheelchair, our society just places the stigma on a wheelchair and not a bicycle, and that's what people need to get their heads wrapped around."
Fans of We Might Regret This were overjoyed upon hearing that the BBC has greenlit not one, but two more seasons earlier this year.
Getty hinted at more intense drama ahead, given the show's unique family setup, saying the excitement is far from over.
The series has already been renewed for a second and third series (Image: BBC)"We can't really tell you anything specific, also we have to keep the freedom to still carve it out," she playfully suggested.
"But we love to play with the messiness of those relationships and we've only just started.
"When a son and father are dating two best friends there's a lot of complicated, weird, awkward conversations and situations they can get into."
Amidst the hilarity stemming from Abe, Jane, and Levi's tumultuous family antics, Getty insists that the upcoming seasons will delve deeper into Freya's journey.

"We also really want to make it as Freya-centric as possible," she confirmed. "As much from her perspective and exploring as many topics and experiences and all the relationships from her perspective."
"Even though it's always going to be an ensemble it should also really thoroughly explore Freya's experiences. So we're refocusing and reconfiguring."
All six episodes are readily available for streaming, so ensure you catch up on this gripping new comedy-drama before the narrative progresses.
We Might Regret This can be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
