Deal or No Deal fans struggled not to chuckle after one unlucky player nearly swore live on air.

The long-running afternoon series challenges contestants to test their luck and nerve as they decide whether to keep the cash inside a sealed box or accept an offer from the elusive banker.

During Tuesday’s visit (November 26) to the  ITV studios, Stephen Mulhern welcomed more hopefuls arrived on set with their iconic red boxes. Sitting in the hot seat today was Dennis, who took on the banker in the nail-biting guessing game.

Initially, the former police officer got off to a difficult start when he lost £10,000, £100,000 just minutes into the show. After revealing his first five numbers, the TV host revealed that the contestant had earned the nickname of ‘Dennis the Menace’ on the show for his cheeky attitude.

It was at this time, the presenter asked: “What would the banker’s nickname be?” to which he jokingly replied: “Well, Banker the ...” as the audience burst into laughter. It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to poke fun at the cheeky comment online.

One user penned: "#DealorNoDeal It's Dennis the Menace versus Banker the... er... bloke who enjoys himself on his own! [cry-laughing emoji]."

Another added: "Dennis nearly calling the Banker a swear word lol [cry-laughing emoji] #DealOrNoDeal" as a third echoed: "Banker the... [four cry-laughing emojis] #dealornodeal."

A third chimed in with: "Ooh careful Dennis. Think you'll regret upsetting the banker [cry-laughing emoji] #dealornodeal." After his cheeky comment, the mysterious banker offered the player a measly £990, which the former officer quickly turned down.

Later on in the show, the contestant suffered another difficult round on the show when he discovered £75,000 in addition to £3,000 and £1,000.

For his second offer, the banker had a change of heart and offered an impressive £2,100, however the retired officer decided to turn down the second offer.

Things soon went from bad to worse for Dennis afer he discovered £50,000, but the banker felt sympathy for the player as he revealed what he would want to spend his winnings on - a luxury car he has desired since he was just 17 years old.

This time, the banker doubled his offer to £4,200, but Dennis stayed strong and turned down the offer. His next round was a lot more promising after he found 1p and £100, meaning one of the remaining boxes was £25,000 or £7,500.

For his fourth offer, Dennis decided to take the leap and accepted the banker's offer of £8,400. But in the final round, the doting husband revealed in his box - number 18, picked because of his wife's birthday - was the jaw-dropping £25,000.

Despite the disappointing result, Ddennis revealed he would be using his winnings to update his wife's car for a new Mini Cooper instead.

Deal or No Deal airs on weekdays from 4pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
