One Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after their staggering piece of music history was given an eye-watering four-figure valuation.

Fiona Bruce, 60, returned to the airwaves from Beaumaris Castle in the heart of North Wales as her team of experts appraised items brought in by locals.

However, one item from the BBC One teatime show caught fans off-guard as antiques dealer Ronnie Archer Morgan, 74, was handed a piece of music memorabilia.

The proud contributor brought in a Rod Stewart’s gold record from his hit 1975 single Atlantic Crossing.

Exited expert Ronnie began: “Now this is a very interesting item with an interesting name, Sandy Jardine. Now, I know that he as a big name in football in Scotland, but how have you got this?”

It was at this point that she revealed her identity as the late sportsman’s wife Shona Jardine, who sadly died after his 18-month long battle with cancer.

She said: “Well, Sandy Jardine’s my husband, he died ten years ago.” The star went on to recall her husband’s connection to the rocker Rod Stewart.

Shona continued: “Many years ago, him and Kenny Dalglish were very close friends with Rod Stewart. And they were out having a carry on, as we do in Scotland and Rod Stewart said, ‘You know, I would love to have a Scottish cap, Sandy.’

“And he said, ‘Well, I would like to have a gold disc!’ Well, it actually came to pass and here we are.” Antiques expert Ronnie couldn't help but reflect on Rod and Sandy's decorated careers.

He added: "So they did a swap? So, your husband got this and Rod Stewart got a Scotland cap. Well, as we know, Rod Stewart is a crazy football fan, in fact that he comes from Highgate and he used to play when he was a young lad for Highgate Redwings.

"And, of course, your husband is a Scottish legend and this is a gold disc of Atlanta Crossing" he gushed, as Shona chuckled: "Yes. I had hoped it would be Maggie May, but we got Atlantic Crossing.

"I think my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren when they come, they'll appreciate this. I hope they do." The antiques expert went on to appraise the jaw-dropping item.

He gushed: "I think it's a great story and I think that this is worth at least £1,500 and £2,500 and it could be more. It's a great thing and thank you for bringing it in and it's been an absolute pleasure to meet you."
