Escape to the Country couple make surprise admission before being left 'lost for words'

Escape to the Country presenter Jules Hudson left couple Wendy and Paul 'lost for words' during Friday's show.

During the latest instalment, Jules met with Wendy and Paul who were living in Reading but wanted to relocate to Somerset for a slower pace of life, community feel and bigger property. However, the duo had a surprise admission as they revealed they had invited Paul's elderly parents to also make the move with them.

The duo had a budget of £675,000, which was the combined amount from the sale of their home in Reading and Paul's parents' home. They were looking for a home that would accommodate his parents but also have privacy for him and Wendy, as well as their large family.

They had their hearts set on a character property, large kitchen with diner, three to four bedrooms with an annexe potential and a good-sized garden. After viewing a collection of properties, it was love at first sight with a Woolston home priced at £635,000, boasting four bedrooms coupled with an impressive driveway and a stunning garden.

The moment they waltzed into their potential new home, they were over the moon, letting out a 'this is it' and raving about its 'wow factor'. However, Jules soon put a spanner in the works when he showed the couple that episode's mystery house, which was priced at £680,000. The impressive home left Wendy and Paul scratching their heads, wondering which house to put an offer on, reports Wales Online.

Upon laying eyes on the house, complete with Wendy's ideal kitchen and its central island, she couldn't hide her excitement with: "Don't do this to me! Wow, this is... look at it, this is just amazing, it's what dreams are made of!" The show's host Jules chimed in with a playful comment, asking "Lost for words Wendy?" and she laughingly conceded: "I am!" to which he teased: "Has this thrown a spanner in the works?"

However, despite being torn between the two properties, the duo decided to go for the earlier property as it felt more homely. Talking to Jules about their decision, Wendy said: "It's the barn conversion we saw, we fell in love with the minute we arrived.

"As soon as we walked in the door, it felt right. We will have to make a few changes to accommodate Paul's mum and dad but we think it ticks every single box." The couple couldn't get over the gorgeous garden too with 'unbelievable' views.

Later in the episode, Jules had an exciting update as he revealed: "After deliberating with Paul's parents, Wendy and Paul did put in an offer on the stone barn conversion and I'm delighted to say that it was accepted. We wish them all the very best of luck when they make their move to Somerset."

Escape To The Country continues on weekdays at 3pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
