Prime Video's thrilling spy series Citadel has launched a spin-off, now available for streaming.

Citadel is one of the most costly TV shows ever produced, with a staggering $300 million budget for the first season's six episodes.

The inaugural season, which premiered in April 2023, starred Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. The duo portrayed Citadel agents Nadia Kinh and Mason Kane, who undertake a global mission to thwart a new threat, Manticore.

Citadel: Honey Bunny, a prequel to the original series, features Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles.

They portray the parents of Priyanka's character from Citadel, Honey and Bunny, who are battling to safeguard their young daughter Nadia, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Bunny (Varun), a stuntman, enlists Honey, a struggling actress, for a side job that plunges them into a high-stakes world of action, espionage, and treachery. The cast also includes Kashvi Majmundar, Kay Kay Menon, Sikander Kher, Saqib Saleem, and Simran Bagga.

The six episodes are filmed in Hindi, but subtitles are provided in various languages are available for non-Hindi speakers.

Varun, a prominent Bollywood actor, is making his debut in the streaming world, joining forces with Samantha, who is known for her work in Telegu and Tamil films in the South.

The hotly-anticipated series has been directed by the talented Raj and DK with the Russo brothers serving as the executive producers for the franchise.

Ever since its trailer dropped on YouTube, fans have been eagerly counting down the days to its release. One eager viewer wrote in the YouTube comments: "Varun as bunny killed it!Mind-blowing trailer! Can't wait to see him in an action avatar."

Another fan, giving their approval, said: "Now this is what we call a trailer," as another predicted: "I won't be surprised if this Indian entry turns out to be the best in the franchise."

This isn't the first Citadel spin-off that has been released, after an Italian series called Citadel: Diana premiered on the platform last month.
