Coronation Street fans to get extra episode in huge ITV schedule shake-up

Coronation Street is set for a huge schedule shake-up next week amid the explosive Joel Deering murder whodunnit.

This week, the hit ITV soap will air in its usual slots of Monday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. However, there will be no episode on Friday, 25 October, at 8 p.m. due to the Live Women's International Football coverage, which will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on ITV.

However, to compensate for this, Corrie will air an additional episode next week on Sunday, 27 October, at 8 p.m. in a rare weekend slot. The hit ITV soap will then air as usual on Monday, 28 October, Wednesday, 30 October, and Friday, 1 November, at 8p.m. on ITV.

It comes amid the ITV soap's gripping Joel Deering, played by Calum Lill, murder whodunnit with several cobbles favourites looking like suspects, reports Liverpool Echo.

Meanwhile, it was announced earlier this month that Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans can get their fix earlier than ever as the beloved soaps move to online viewing.

The update, which happened on Monday October 14, sees episodes dropped on the streaming platform ITVX at 7am, well ahead of their traditional evening slots on ITV1. This shift is part of ITV's fresh approach to give fans more flexibility in how they tune into their top telly picks.

Simultaneously with this game-changing "soap drop," ITVX is set to unveil a shiny new hub for all things soap-related. It will be crammed full of goodies and exclusive content nestled right next to the latest chapters from the soaps, now conveniently served up before their usual TV broadcasts.

Landing on the revamped ITVX soap section, viewers will be greeted with special selections dedicated to Classic Coronation Street and Classic Emmerdale. Plus, they'll be treated to compilations like the Greatest Episodes and a curated Stars of the Soaps anthology, showcasing drama hits such as Tina and Bobby featuring Michelle Keegan, Maryland starring Suranne Jones, and The Long Shadow with Katherine Kelly.

There's also a Top Picks selection, which boasts Nolly, Russell T Davies' intimate portrayal of the queen of soaps, Noele Gordon, with Helena Bonham Carter bringing to life the legend from the seminal daytime drama Crossroads. Fans will also be able to stream memorable Crossroads episodes, headlined by soap favourites who will introduce classic scenes and select their personal highlights from ITVX's offerings.

Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on both ITV and ITV X.
