Outlander fans say Sam Heughan 'hasn't changed a bit' after touching throwback snap

Outlander's Sam Heughan teases promotional trip to San Francisco

Outlander sensation Sam Heughan sent fans into a nostalgic frenzy as he proudly shared a sentimental throwback picture, captured just before his first foray into the now iconic role of Jamie Fraser.

The dashing Scotsman originally stepped into the boots of the adored Highlander back in 2014, starring alongside his on-screen flame Caitriona Balfe, who plays time-travelling Claire Randall.

Following their tumultuous journey across eras and continents, Claire and Jamie triumphantly made their way back to Scotland during last year's enthralling midseason climax.

Anxiously counting down, legions of Outlander enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the commencement of season seven's second instalment, set to premiere on Starz and MGM+ via Prime Video shortly over a month away.

Meanwhile, the crew have taken to Instagram following the emotional conclusion of filming the eighth and ultimate season, to share treasured memories from the Frasers' epic saga, reports the Daily Record.

Heughan enthralled his impressive cohort of 4.3 million followers by posting side-by-side photos a decade apart, both featuring the renowned Ecto-1 car from Ghostbusters.

His post included the reflective note: "10 years apart....

"2014 weeks before beginning Outlander S1. 2024 week after Outlander S8 wrap.

Fans were quick to express their delight and sentimentality in the comments section, with one admirer penning the flattering words: "You are like wine, the older you are, the better you get!"

Another shared: "Love the nostalgia! Just crazy it's been 10 years. So sad to see it come to an end, but thankful to be able to watch it over and over."

"The circle has come full turn," a third said, brimming with admiration. "You've taken us on an incredible journey. You are an extraordinary artist. I wish you all the best."

Another was astonished by the lack of change over time: "10 years apart...?!? Never... I can't see any difference at all."

A poignant comment came from one fan who exclaimed: "The nostalgia must be unreal! [ghost emoji] Spoiler? Congratulations Sam, JAMMF will never fail to haunt me forever. I will be calling up my Sassenach sistahs!"

Jamie's enigmatic ghostly appearance in the opening episode of Outlander remains one of television's enduring enigmas.

Heughan's career path post-Outlander also remains shrouded in mystery - could he possibly join the Ghostbusters legacy in their next spectral adventure?

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
