Amanda Owen's new home project with ex Clive comes with 'unusual' perks

Clive Owen admits he had 'huge part' to play in Amanda split

Amanda Owen, alongside her ex-husband Clive, is taking a step beyond Our Yorkshire Farm with an exciting new adventure documented in a fresh TV series. The programme, yet to be titled, will capture the Owens as they come together to breathe life into a neglected 19th-century farmhouse.

The former couple have banded together with an inspiring goal: restoring an old 1800s property adjacent to Ravenseat Farm, all for the future of their nine children. Amanda took ownership of the farmhouse, affectionately called Anty John's, in March 2020 and has since dreamed of passing on this legacy to their offspring.

Discussing the project's unique aspects with OK!, Amanda was reflective, saying: "I feel blessed to have been able to buy it as it was such an amazing opportunity to buy another farm that had plenty of land 30 acres and common grazing rights, which is quite unusual nowadays."

However, tackling such a rundown structure has presented its challenges, reports Yorkshire Live.

With no initial infrastructure like foundations or roof in place and outdated planning permissions, Amanda pointed out: "A lot had changed since the original application was put through. Things like an old 1970s-style avocado bathroom."

Consequently, there was a significant amount of red tape to cut through even before the commencement of renovations. Amanda gave an insight into the strenuous process: "So, there was a lot of paperwork to do before we could even get started.

"It was stressful and there were times where you'd stand among the rubble thinking, 'OMG, where do I even start?' It was overwhelming."

Despite the trials, after a year of gruelling work, the determined duo Amanda and Clive have triumphantly raised a new roof on the building, setting their sights next on fitting the windows.

Amanda lamented the project's delay, expressing her wish to have been able to "light a fire in a room this Christmas".

The vision for the Grade II listed building is to transform it into a cosy two-bedroom abode complete with a living room, kitchen, shower room, and utility room.

As reported by The Yorkshire Post, the farmhouse has stood unused for an astonishing 60 years.

In a show of family support, Amanda's son Reuben took to Instagram, posting a series of snaps as he lent a hand with the renovations.

Accompanying a snapshot of a tractor and digger, he captioned: "Setting up ready to make a start at Anty Johns. #tryingnottomakeamess".
