Outlander fans confused by key thing that's 'missing' from Claire and Jamie's relationship

Outlander season 7 part 2 trailer on STARZ

Outlander enthusiasts are scratching their heads over Claire's (played by Caitriona Balfe) seemingly indifferent attitude towards her dashing husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) in the beloved series.

Claire's journey started when she was unexpectedly transported back to the 18th Century, where she swiftly fell for a strapping Highlander amid the Jacobite rebellion.

The heart-throbbing love story at the heart of Starz' hit historical drama has captivated millions worldwide, and the saga is set to continue with the second part of season seven this November.

As fans eagerly await the new episodes, they've been reflecting on the Frasers' epic time-spanning romance.

Despite being smitten with Claire and Jamie's fiery union, one fan pinpointed an odd detail that seems to have gone unnoticed.

A perplexed fan took to Reddit, questioning: "Does Claire even realize how hot her husband is?!"

They observed, "I feel like he is always complimenting her looks, her body, etc. but it's weird that her POV doesn't really say much about him except when she talks about his muscle."

Adding a personal touch, they remarked, "I don't know. I've been married 30 years and I still compliment my husband on the physical things I love about him."

This comment also nods to Diana Gabaldon's original novels, which delve deeper into the more sensual elements of Claire and Jamie's relationship.

Despite Jamie's overt displays of affection for his wife, other Fraser enthusiasts have noted numerous indications that Claire still harbours feelings for the Scottish hero after all these years.

"She constantly talks about his high cheek bones, slanted cat eyes, the colors and texture of his hair, his knife edge nose, etc," one fan responded.

Another chimed in: "Of course she knows! She renounced hot baths and indoor plumbing, forever, for him.

"How many women can do that for a dude? She just isn't the verbal type, she shows her affection by action not words, that is all."

A third added: "Are you talking about show Claire? Book Claire talks often about Jamie's attributes [winky emoji].

"She doesn't tell him constantly she loves him, but is implied and understood, they even have a conversation about that one time."

After spending years on Fraser's Ridge in North Carolina, Claire and Jamie finally returned to Scotland at the conclusion of season seven, part one.

Far removed from the harsh realities of the American Revolution, there may be many more romantic moments between the couple when Outlander eventually returns.

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
