Wayne Rooney sent off before controversial winner as Plymouth fans stand up for boss
Wayne Rooney, the Plymouth boss, was shown the red card on Saturday afternoon. The 38 year old manager was left fuming after his team conceded a late equaliser to Blackburn Rovers at Home Park.
Michael Obafemi had put the Pilgrims in the lead with an early goal, only for Joe Rankin-Costello to level the score in the 86th minute. Rooney was livid, arguing with the fourth official over what he believed was a foul in the build-up to the goal.
Despite his protests, he was sent off.
